In February 2025 Humane moved to wind down the consumer AI Pin. Around month end the devices were set to lose server links for connections, messaging, and AI features. A gadget that needed the cloud suddenly faced silence.
That is the last chapter of a story that started with screenless hype in 2023 and hit reality in April 2024.

The lesson
Hardware without a useful offline core is a subscription cosplaying as a device. When the subscription dies, so does the object.
Humane did not only fail a SKU. It stress-tested the whole "AI pin replaces phone" fantasy. February is when the fantasy lost power, literally.
Investors got a case study. Wearable founders got a warning label. Customers got a drawer ornament. The industry should file this under cloud-tethered hardware risk, right beside every pin and puck that cannot think alone.
