Does decentralization still matter?

At small scale, protocol talk is identity. At mainstream scale, users care about moderation, performance, and whether friends are present. Bluesky has to keep the open bet without feeling like chaos.

Twenty million is not victory over X. It is proof of a second act. Successor status takes habits, not press releases.

Moderation, spam, and celebrity migrations will stress-test the network next. Growth is the easy chart. Governance is the hard product.

If Bluesky holds together while staying more open than a fully centralized giant, November's number becomes a foundation. If it buckles, it becomes a spike.

Compare that to invite-era scarcity: the product problem flipped from "how do I get in" to "how do we stay decent at scale." That flip is the real milestone.
